The highly anticipated heated battle between the YGE and JYPE trainees that you've been waiting for finally arrived on the Friday the 13th episode of 'WIN'!
The episode started where things were left off with Team B enjoying their vacation at the beach as a reward for winning their end-of-the-month performance test. Team A and B also had a glamorous photo shoot for their profile and got into the moment by dancing on set. But the joys of summer was soon over as Yang Hyun Suk made the surprise announcement that both teams will go to the JYP Entertainment headquarters the next day for a face off against the opposing agency's trainees. Kang Seung Yoon was especially worried as he is known to have a trauma with J.Y. Park for his past criticisms on Kang Seung Yoon's singing habits on 'Superstar K'. Yang Hyun Suk reviewed their practice performances before the big reveal in front of J.Y. Park and the JYPE trainees, praising Team B's vocal team for performing naturally as if the song was their own but to team A's vocal team, he commented that it seemed like they were trying to sound like Big Bang.
YGE's 11 trainees split up into three teams. A rapper group consisting of Team A and B's rappers, the vocal group from Team A, and Team B's vocal group. Team A's vocal group especially had a difficult time with the team switching their song at the last minute and Jinwoo being unfamiliar with the lyrics of J.Y. Park's "I Have A Girlfriend".
On the big day, J.Y. Park encouraged the trainees as he recalled the previous battles with Rain, Se7en, Big Bang, and 2PM. He shared, "It didn't matter who did better that moment but those artists of mine became successful.'" JYP's rap team, including Mark (LA), Jackson (Hong Kong), and Young Hyun (Toronto), showed their 'foreign swag'. YG's rap team was up next and received the praise of J.Y. Park who complimented B.I. on his swag, Lee Seung Hoon on his stage presence, and Bobby on the way he raps and plays with the rhythm.
Ah, the dance battle. JYP's dance team, consisting of two 17-year old members and two 20-year-old members, impressed everyone with their acrobatics. J.Y. Park also praised Team B's dance team for their teamwork. In the singing battle, JYP's vocal team including 'K-Pop Star's Park Jae Hyung performed with their instruments. Yang Hyun Suk was surprised by Jae Hyung's rap skills and commented that they need to work on effectively expressing emotion. Team A was voted by the JYPE trainees to sing instead of Team B's vocal team which made a perfect opportunity for Kang Seung Yoon to overcome his trauma. Unfortunately, Jinwoo forgot the lyrics but Kang Seung Yoon came to the rescue by singing the rest of his parts and was praised by J.Y. Park for fixing his habits that he mentioned on 'Superstar K' and having the sense to help out a teammate.
In the end, J.Y. Park revealed that he thinks the trainees were all pretty similar, meaning it's time for them to practice more. When asked to choose between Team A and B, J.Y. Park shared that he has more affection for Team A but if he had to invest in a team, it would be Team B. Meanwhile, Yang Hyun Suk told the boys, "I feel embarrassed so I can't even imagine how you feel", and tried to console the boys by sharing, "Let's start practicing again tomorrow."
Which agency's trainees do you think did better? YG or JYP?
