On the June 27th broadcast of MBC's 'Knee Drop Guru', Sung Dong Il shared, "A few days ago, I attended a red carpet event in Shanghai, China and fans would call me 'Joon's Father.' I thought to myself, 'What have I been doing all this time?' That's when I realized the popularity of 'Dad, Where Are You Going?'"
"At first, I rejected the offer to feature on 'Dad Where Are You Going?' I didn't want to get my son involved and make money off of him. But the staff came to my house and I gave them some ground rules. The first condition is that they wouldn't teach my son to artificially talk or act."
"The most important thing is my wife's permission. After thinking it over, my wife approved of us featuring on 'Dad Where Are You Going?' I thought that if they make it mandatory for my busy self to spend time with my son, Joon, then our father-son relationship would get closer."
"While filming 'Dad Where Are You Going?', I felt a lot of things. I am the type to get frustrated easily, and Joon always answers my questions late. I felt frustrated because of it. But one day, I observed how Joon talks with his friends. He thinks for a while before he speaks. I didn't know that side of Joon's personality. Through this program, I was given time to think more about my child, and I learned how to be more patient."
Can you imagine 'Dad Where Are You Going?' without Sung Dong Il and Joon? Good thing he decided to join in the end!
