Sooyoung reveals her father suffers from retinitis pigmentosa

Girls' Generation's Sooyoung revealed that her father was suffering from�retinitis pigmentosa.

On the latest episode of 'Strong Heart', Sooyoung confessed, "My father went to the hospital because his eyes were getting bad, and they told him he had retinitis pigmentosa." Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited, degenerative eye disease that causes severe vision impairment and often leads to blindness. She said, "He doesn't have any difficulty in everyday life, but they said he will slowly lose his eyesight."

She also added, "My father is a very active person and he's in charge of a campaign to help cure blindness. The Girl's Generation members are active as promotional models for this campaign. Once, we got into a car accident while we were helping him (for this campaign). I think my dad gets concerned anytime he asks us to do something because of that incident."

She couldn't help but spill tears thinking about her father. She said, "I am my dad's youngest daughter and his little hero. My dad is my big hero. One day, a bright world where we can look at each other through our hearts will come."
