On August 18th, singer/actor Eric took to his Twitter account to express his thoughts on the controversy regarding Han Ye Seul and the reformation of production environments. He wrote:
"We have to first think about who this reformation is for. Is it for my own comfort, someone who already receives wage for the work I do, or is it for the staff, who suffer with all of us but earn a wage less than the actors. Or is it for our future juniors, to allow them to work in an environment more comfortably? I guess all three could be it. A lot of people are talking about producing dramas before they begin airing, but realistically, it's not an easy issue, especially considering the production costs and the issues of being picked up by a network. I, too, hope that my future juniors will be able to work under a better environment. But for now, the staff that I see and work with every single day are more precious to me than these 'future juniors' who I haven't even met yet. Unless you set up a production company to produce a drama knowing that you won't be able to make a profit, I know that this is an issue that will be hard to reform. Until an angelic person emerges who works solely for others without profit, as an actor, there isn't much I can do except things like consoling those on set, gifting team clothes, and taking the team out for dinner. I hope that those in upper management will open their ears and listen to the voices of those at the scene. It's a sincere act to cover one human being's mistake, but failure to criticize the mistake and right the wrong or ignoring the voices of those who are still bleeding because of that one mistake is not an act of forgiveness, but an act of acceptance and approval of that human being's mistake."-- Eric added another tweet that read:
"I hope that you continue to give Ye Seul your support. She may be the lead actress, but I personally wanted to get rid of the false accusations laid against the actors and staff who are at a lower level. Ultimately, Ye Seul made a mistake, but nobody can be a perfect human being, so I hope that her fans will continue to be a source of strength for her until the end. I, too, am planning to say what I need to say as her oppa during our team dinner tonight when it's just the two of us, but I will be accepting her again like old times. We are not staff members who will be negatively eyeing her or anything now that she's back. The slate has been wiped clean. The upper management of the production company, however, is completely different from us. I hope that everyone will just consider it as the mistake of one young woman and that those who were upset about it have come to terms with it. Please don't over-exaggerate or misunderstand what happened. A lot of obstacles were in the way of 'Spy Myung Wol' and the viewer ratings are very low, but everyone, including Ye Seul, are all going to work hard to make the most out of it. Even though there are few, we are working hard for those who watch the drama with affection. We hope that there will no longer be any rumors being made so that we can all find strength again. PS - This controversy is over now that there's been a reconciliation. I hope that it won't be talked about anymore, and I'm sorry, but I'm re-tweeting this again. Any further misunderstandings and assumptions will only come back to hurt Ye Seul, who already has a heavy heart, and the remaining co-stars and staff, who must accept and move on. In short, just consider it simply like this: one woman's mistake -> the disappointment of her co-stars -> her apology -> the scolding from the oppas -> and finally reconciliation. Please end all assumptions! Let us just film the drama!!"Source + Photos: MyDaily via Nate, Eric's official Twitter account
