Cable channel tvN recently announced that they will be producing Korea's own version of the "Got Talent" series.
"We will use the format of the world famous 'Got Talent' series to produce and broadcast Korea's original 'Korea's Got Talent'," stated tvN on January 26th.
According to tvN, they completed contract deals with Fremantle Media for purchasing the series format, and are currently fine-tuning the details of the recruitment team and audition techniques.
Semi-finalists of the program will be given the opportunity to sign with world-renown recording company Sony Music, and the final winner will be given prize money worth over $100,000 USD. tvN are aiming to begin broadcasting in the first half of 2011.
tvN stated, "We will make 'Korea's Got Talent' the best audition reality show program that will unearth a variety of Korea's hidden talents and skills. Together with Mnet's 'Superstar K2', we will establish the nation's survival audition shows."
The "Got Talent" series is an audition program that accompanies a wide range of talents regardless of age, some of which include comedy, art, dance, instruments, and voice imitations. First originating in Britain as "Britain's Got Talent", the program soon became a major hit all around the world as it crossed seas to a total of 35 countries, such as America, Germany, Denmark, and China.
