With MC Mong awaiting trial on charges of military duty evasion, the public has turned their gaze towards 2PM's Ok Taecyeon and the rumors of him avoiding military service.
Yoo Seung Jun was one of the first representative cases of an evasion gone wrong, eventually having his career not only put to an end, but deported from the country as well. MC Mong's momentary faulty decision has led him down the same path as Yoo Seung Jun, and it seems as if Ok Taecyeon might be following.
Ok Taecyeon has been unable to avoid the suspicions surrounding his service since the rumors first emerged. Having shown the most beastly performances out of all of 2PM, he expressed his manliness through shirt ripping performances, exposing his chiseled body for all to see. However, rumors stating that he received a level 4 on his physical examination have surfaced recently.
In Korea, any healthy male must serve in the military. Before they serve, they go through a physical examination and are given a service level based on their health: 1 through 3 being a soldier in active duty, level 4 being public service, 5 to 6 being exemption, and 7 being a retest. Ok Taecyeon received a level 4 on his physical examination and was put in the category of public service. In order to receive a level 4 on one's examination, one's eye sight must be bad beyond anything repairable by glasses or contacts, one's shoulders must be dislocated, or there must be a problem with the functions of one's organs, or some type of psychological disability must be found. The public service duty exempts one from active duty, and instead focuses on desk jobs such as secretarial work.
Ok Taecyeon's physical examination results were confirmed to be true by the Military Manpower Association, thus making the public wonder how an idol that can run 100 meters within 11 seconds, do 50 push ups in 30 seconds, and sit up and down 284 times within 3 minutes, can receive a level 4 categorization.
Netizens commented, "There's no way he can be public service with that body," "Celebrities get special treatment anyway in active duty, why don't they just go fairly?", and "He's the guy that showed off his athletic skills in the 'Idol Star Track & Field Championships'. Public service, funny."
