And it happens once again! A reporter working for Yahoo! Music UK & Ireland recently wrote an article about Kara which was featured on their homepage. Now, you'd think that this would be a good thing considering that KPop has been attempting to expand into foreign countries, but think again! Much like the incident with the Dirty Eyed Girls video being mistaken for a Chinese gay porno, this writer has mistaken Kara's oh-so-popular 'Mister' for a song about soccer! Why? Because the made up subtitles say so! The reporter, ironically named Dave Rumour, wrote, "Kara are reportedly sitting atop their national charts with 'Mister', a lollipop sweet tune that mixes the pure, day-glo qualities of their nation's distinctive music…" But here's where it gets confusing. He continued on by saying, "…with a bizarre (and possibly doctored) lyrical line in soccer fascination to score a blinder from 35 yards out." Since when did 'Mister' have anything to do with soccer?! After being confused out of my mind, I watched the video attached along with his article and it hit me. It was like the Dirty Eyed Girls incident all over again! What started out as a fan project became another huge misunderstanding. The video, which is actually Kara's performance of 'Mister' on MBC's Music Core Special last December, was subbed with fan-made lyrics pertaining to international soccer stars Lampard, David Beckham, Ronaldo and Cesc Fabregas. And although the writer did say that the lyrics were "possibly doctored," I'm surprised that he didn't check with the other numerous subbed 'Mister' videos out on the internet, especially since the video was titled as 'Football Parody.' But hey, I don't fully blame him, especially for someone that doesn't understand Korean. It happens even to the best of us. You can check out the original article here!
