Korean box office hit "Take Off" will soon be released in America! First stop? Los Angeles, California! For those not familiar with the movie, "Take Off" is a film centered around the beginnings of the first Korean ski jump team that takes place in a small town in the late 1990s. The audience follows the trials and tribulations of Coach Bang, played by actor Seong Dong Il, as he trains his team of amature ski jumpers for Olympic goal. Meanwhile, as the coach trains his atheletes, the individual members of the team go through separate scenarios of their own, creating their own plot-within-a-plot case for the movie, such as the adoptee named Bob (play by actor Ha Jeong Woo), who is returning to Korea in search of his mother. "Take Off" has been number one in Korea for 4 straight weeks, has garnered a total of 7 milllion viewers since its opening release on July 29, and continues to attract a large audience in Korea. The movie is set to open in LA tentatively this month. If the public's response is positive, the movie will move on to limited release in movie theaters across the country. JS Media, distributor of other well known Korean movies such as "Thirst" and "Haeundae," will do the honors of distributing this film in America and will commence opening up previews for the movie beginning this week in order to guage how the movie will fair amongst the general response. cr. freeta
