Singer Chae Yeon will be returning as the host of Mnet M! Countdown starting from 23rd July. In the latest format change, Chae Yeon will be the main host and will be paired up weekly in future with a male singer who was voted as the popular in that particular week by females in their 20s. Mnet revealed, "M! Countdown is currently being aired in Japan, China, Thailand and plays an important role as Asia's No.1 chart show in bringing the Hallyu wave into those countries. We have thus decided on having Chae Yeon as our new program host because of her popularity in Korea and the rest of Asia." This will be Chae Yeon's second time hosting the program after leaving the show 7 months ago, and her regular partner then was Alex. The new improved M! Countdown will also be moved forward one hour, starting at 6pm (KST). Chae Yeon returns with Alex making a short MC cameo tonight.
