YB Banned from KBS

Posted by coolsmurf0 pt Sunday, April 12, 2009

Korean Broadcasting System or in short, KBS is widely known to be largely influenced by the Korean government even though by law, it is stated that it's a public organization that's independently managed. Because of their supposed links with the government, they tend to ban stuff which has objectionable content or criticizing the government with ease to "maintain social order". It is also becoming increasingly unpopular with netizens as Youtube accounts with KBS content have been suspended en masse recently following a crackdown by KBS America. More was to come, when it was announced that YB or more popularly known as Yoon Do Hyun Band have been banned from appearing on KBS shows recently. A representative from YB's management agency spoke out against KBS against the performance ban that had been enforced against YB Band on the 10th. "Most of the songs contained in Yoon Do Hyun's Band latest album Coexistence speak out against Korean society on the whole. But if that is the reason behind the ban, then it's especially unfair to them as musicians. We hope that KBS can treat this as just a new work from a musician instead of linking it with politics." Most believe that YB was being penalized for criticizing the Lee Myung Bak administration through the songs from their latest album.
