President Yoon Suk Yeol has been subjected to an overseas travel ban.

The Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials (CIO) applied for President Yoon's travel ban around 3 PM on December 9, and the Ministry of Justice approved it within 40 minutes.

Oh Dong Woon, the head of the CIO, appeared at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee today. When asked if he intended to arrest President Yoon, who is a suspect in the rebellion case, he responded, "We are actively investigating and making efforts to secure custody of the suspect," adding, "We are proceeding with the mindset of saving the country without any restrictions."

Director Oh further stated, "To ensure strict punishment for rebellion-related criminals, we have exercised our authority to request that the case be referred to the prosecution and police." He emphasized that "For the ringleader of the rebellion and major criminals, we aim to pursue detention investigations as a principle and are determined to investigate thoroughly."

The CIO, police, and prosecution investigate allegations of rebellion and abuse of power against President Yoon and others.

Previously, investigative agencies had also issued travel bans on key figures related to the rebellion, including former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang Min, former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong Hyeon, and former Counterintelligence Command Chief Yeo In Hyung.
