On September 15, Ahn Sang Soo, the mayor of Changwon, was egged during a regular assembly meeting by assemblyman Kim Sung Il, who was angered by the mayor's recent construction decisions.
The tension started even before the chairman could finish his opening address when assemblyman Kim raised his voice to criticize mayor Ahn, who, as the mayor of Changwon, was in charge of the Unified Changwon City consisting of Changwon, Masan, and Jinhae. Assemblyman Kim, who represents the city of Jinhae, expressed his anger, as the mayor wished to relocate Jinhae's baseball stadium to Masan. In order to attract the NC baseball team, mayor Ahn had decided to shift the location of a new baseball stadium to Masan Sports Complex from an Army College site in Jinhae. Originally, there was a state-of-the-art Research center promised to the Army College site in Jinhae if the new stadium was to be built there but with this shift, it has angered some in the Jihae region.
In the clip above, around the 0:05 mark, Kim Sung Il first interrupts the chairman's opening address as he says to the mayor, "Why are you sitting in the seat of the mayor of the [Unified Changwon City]? If you don't leave, I'm going to leave."
He stands up and walks down the aisle until he is in front of the mayor to whom he shouts at the 0:35 mark, "You force the union [to happen] and then you take away our baseball stadium. What are you trying to do?" before throwing two eggs at him. While the first egg hits the mayor's right shoulder, getting on his suit and hair, the second splatters against the wall, alarming the whole assembly hall. Some members of the assembly applaud the act, and after a long silence, the mayor stands up to make his own exit.
After this clip was taken, Chairman Yoo Won Suk adjourned the meeting, which later resumed with 40 assemblymen. Mayor Ahn Sang Soo was not in attendance.
