Slapping someone in the face is a statement in itself. Now what about reeling back for a spicy, kimchi-packed punch?

BAM! Patented Korean Kimchi slap, ahjumma style!

This clip is from MBC's morning drama, "Everybody, Kimchi!" The kimchi slap was aired on July 21 and has been gaining viral attention on the internet ever since. It is an unintentionally (or intentionally?) hilarious moment. One minute, two people are in a heated conversation, flinging heavy words like ninja stars, attacking each other's feelings; the next, there's kimchi blood shed on a disturbed face and an audience asking all the right questions: "WTF just happened?"

Who even came up with this idea? According to Producer Kim Heung Dong, the scene was scripted, and although the actors Lee Hyo Choon (the slapper) and Won Ki Joon (the slappee) were baffled by the concept, they went with it in just one take.

Even though the producer credits the writers for the idea and the actors for their delivery, the guy has shown that he has some interesting humor himself in his previous shows. When working on the drama, "It Must Have Been Love", he gained attention for the "juice scene" with actor Park Dong Bin showing us the best dramatic surprised reaction since the dramatic gopher.

Someone clearly lost his appetite mid-sip, just like the scene lost its tension and gave way to a new sense of "WTF"-ery.

To explain his logic, the producer has stated, "If you are faithful to the drama, then the viewers will respond. There is no other explanation. I believe that when you deliver the story dramatically, then you will determine the outcome." AKA the more you troll, the more eyeballs and interest. The story of the internet, and now it looks like K-Drama producers are catching on--which only means more LOL moments for us! Sweet.
