On November 4 KST, boy group AHOF (Steven, Seo Jungwoo, Cha Woonggi, Zhang Shuaibo, Park Han, JL, Park Juwon, Zuen, and Daisuke) held a comeback showcase for their second mini album 'The Passage.'
“The Passage” comes about four months after the group’s debut mini album 'WHO WE ARE' released in July. The new release contains five tracks in total, including the title track “Pinocchio Hates Lies.”
With their debut album “WHO WE ARE,” AHOF portrayed the image of “youths in progress” — imperfect but full of potential. Their new album “The Passage” continues that story, depicting the journey from boyhood to adulthood and showcasing a broader, more mature narrative of AHOF’s youth.
In this album, the members confront the growing pains that arise at the boundary between adolescence and adulthood. By facing moments of anxiety, confusion, and instability head-on, they reveal the rough yet authentic process of finding their true selves — the essence of what they call “raw youth.”
The tracklist’s organic flow adds emotional depth to AHOF’s storytelling. The opening track “AHOF, The Beginning of the Shining Number (Intro)” is a reimagined and expanded version of the outro from their previous album. Transforming what was once a narration into a full song, it symbolizes the seamless continuation of AHOF’s story.
Other tracks include “Run at 1.5x Speed,” filled with the breathless energy of youth; the title song “Pinocchio Hates Lies,” which expresses the desire to stay honest with someone special despite inner turmoil; “So I’ll Never Lose You Again,” a heartfelt fan song pledging everlasting connection; and “Sleeping Diary (Outro),” which closes the album with a promise of what’s to come. Together, these tracks form a cohesive musical narrative that feels like reading AHOF’s own modern fairy tale of youth.
Notably, “The Passage” also marks a significant step in the group’s creative growth. In their debut album, member Cha Woonggi solely participated in writing the lyrics for the title track. This time, members Steven, Cha Woonggi, and Park Han all contributed as lyricists, proving their evolution as artists with deeper musical involvement.
The first track “AHOF, The Beginning of the Shining Number (Intro)” lists Steven as the lead lyricist, while the group’s first-ever fan song “So I’ll Never Lose You Again” was co-written by Steven, Cha Woonggi, and Park Han, capturing their sincere feelings for their fandom, FOHA.
Through “The Passage,” AHOF demonstrates not only their visual and performance growth but also their expanding musical depth — reaffirming their presence as one of the most promising “monster rookies” of the new generation.
