The Korean Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (KOSCAP) has issued their official opposition against idol audition shows.

Shows such as 'Produce 101' and 'The Unit' take celebrity management and production power from individual labels and gives them instead to broadcasting stations, the KOSCAP claimed. If this continues to become the popular trend, KOSCAP and many smaller labels argued that the only labels who will survive the battle will be the giant labels such as YG, JYP, and SM. The monopoly on the entertainment industry then will be handed over to a company such as CJ E&M, who is already a giant company.

An argument is also being made that the artists are also suffering from short-term projects. This means all the focus is only on bringing profit from them in a short period of time instead of focusing on artist management and growth.

Do you think these shows are problematic?
