The SongSong couple won big awards at the '2016 Korean Pop Culture and Arts Awards,' recognized by the Korean government as one of the most important entertainers of the year.
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo attended the awards ceremony, which celebrates the works of creator and entertainers in numerous fields.
The two actors sat side by side as their works were recognized by winning the President's Award, the most prestigious one out of 5 categories. Both played lead roles in the same drama, 'Descendants of the Sun,' and the script writer for the drama also won an award, proving the drama to be the most popular one of the year.

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo stood on stage to share their thanks. The actress said, "I am reminded of all the staff who worked hard...I was able to receive this award because of all the fans here and abroad. I will continue to work hard to win the hearts of drama viewers everywhere."
Song Joong Ki followed by stating, "I am glad to receive an award on the same stage with Asia's Prince, Lee Kwang Soo, who has been with me since we were rookies." He then added, "I am just a young actor who still lacks in acting ability and have much to learn."
He concluded by saying, "I believe I am loved because of all the efforts of all the actors before me, and if I go back even further, it's because of our ancestors. I am filming 'Warship' which is about Koreans who were forced into labor on Hashima Island, and I became very serious about thinking about this...I am here because all the people who made sacrifices. I will work hard to advance the pop culture from where I am."
