The world works in a way that favors beauty, lovable personality, and/or charisma over talent sometimes. Is that fair? No, but it is a bit understandable. Even think of the Western entertainers like Marilyn Monroe and Kim Kardashian. They're better known for their looks and sex appeal. People can't help but be drawn to certain people because they seem so sweet and approachable or because they seem so fabulous and cool.
Even though it can be understandable to a degree, let's try to balance this out a bit by looking at 10 female idols in K-Pop who are overrated to a certain degree down below!

2NE1's Dara
Dara is undoubtedly a very lovable and cute character, but the amount of love she receives seems a bit overboard. She is the least talented member of 2NE1 with average singing and dancing skills; her acting hasn't turned any heads. She's started on the path now to become an entertainer, like hosting 'Sugar Man,' but she hasn't even been that remarkable there, either. As likable she is, there is really not much talent to back up her fame.
Brown Eyed Girls' Ga In
This Brown Eyed Girls member is sexy on stage and sweet off, but that doesn't warrant the immense following she's garnered. Of course it was worth it in that she put a lot of hard work into her career, through thick and thin, but with what talent? Her singing is breathy and bland while her dancing is nothing special, either, merely sexy with no technique. It's really just her unique look and refreshing personality that earned her popularity - but as an "artist," should that really be enough?
Girl's Day's Hyeri
This cute Girl's Day member is receiving a lot of love in Korea because of her cute and lovable persona - but that's really all she has going for her. She isn't the best singer in her group and her dancing is, again, at a basic level that all idols can do. Her drama 'Reply 1988' was much beloved, but mainly because of the storyline. People had to force themselves to get used to her acting in there, and then they could not stand her acting in 'Ddanddara.' She still has a long way to go.
SISTAR's Hyorin
Many people hail Hyorin as being one of the best singers in K-Pop - and while she sure may have started off that way, her vocals have greatly been limited and have even gone downhill since. Her voice has become less powerful and it still lacks singing range, resulting in screeches rather than beautifully hit high notes. There's a definite strain there that shows she still needs some training, but she seems to be too confident and comfortable where she is, so she may actually be one of the most overrated singers in K-Pop. And she's definitely not a rapper. So stop...
IOI's Jeon So Mi
Jeon So Mi was voted the center of IOI, topping a survival program involving 100 other contestants, so you'd think she'd be something special. Well, she's not. She's lovable and sweet with potential, but I can't be the only one scratching my head wondering what's so special about her. Her singing and dancing is average, not bad but nothing special, either, so she seems to be lacking a wow factor.
IOI/DIA's Jung Chae Yeon
IOI and DIA member Jung Chae Yeon is slowly climbing the ranks as possibly the next trendy girl of South Korea, but why? She barely talks. She's mostly there just smiling and being cute. Ultimately, she's another visual of the K-Pop industry who doesn't have much to offer aside from her looks. In DIA's latest promotions, her vocals were shaky and her dancing was not sharp and lacked impact.
f(x)'s Krystal
Krystal is undoubtedly very chic and charismatic with great stage presence. Otherwise, she can sing, but that is definitely not a particularly strong suit for her. She can act when she's just basically acting the same bratty character like in 'High Kick' or 'Heirs,' but when it comes to something different and more serious, she shows her acting lacks flexibility - meaning she can't act that well yet, but it's okay, because she's still adored by many for just… being there...
AOA's Seolhyun
The Nation's It-Girl is definitely another looker with an incredible body to boot. She's chic and charismatic on stage, but she's been a very hot topic this year, making people wonder… why? Shy and quiet on screen, she doesn't stand out much on variety shows. She doesn't sing much, either, and her dancing is up to par with the general standard for idols. Her acting has failed to receive much attention, so why is she this popular?
miss A's Suzy
When Suzy became the Nation's First Love, there were some people questioning this adoration. What's so great about her looks? She has a girl-next-door vibe many find endearing, but it's hard to really pinpoint anything special about her appearance. As for singing, she may be the best in miss A, but she's hardly a notable singer in the whole world of K-Pop. Part of the criticism against 'Uncontrollably Fond' also proves she's not a very good actress yet, either. So why all the craze?
Girls' Generation's YoonA
Considering she's pretty much the Goddess of K-Pop, you'd expect her to perfect in all things - but she only has the title "goddess" in looks. Despite what hardcore fans may say, her singing is adequate and her acting continues to receive criticism. Although she's definitely easy on the eyes, some may argue she's not one of the more beautiful celebrities in Korea. Does she deserve this much love? Questionable, but at least she has a super awesome personality!
I'm an f(x) fan(might be biased on her acting, but not on her voice), so I personally feel like maybe not before, but at least now Krystal is amazing at almost any role and she's an amazing singer. Her voice isn't that powerful and not too weak either. Actually, the reason she caught my attention was because of her unique and pleasant voice (at least to me). I really hate the word overrated because people just call whoever is famous "overrated" and honestly that's an opinion. Most people think that a celebrity is good, but not that great, but that's the whole reason they got that famous because a lot of people thought she was amazing. I respect your opinions a powerful voice is usually better looked upon then a pleasant (again to me) one. (See how I didn't say a powerful voice is overrated just because i'm not a big fan of it)
