This December's year-end concert for SBS, the '2014 Gayo Daejun', may include an awards ceremony, an industry insider revealed.
"It is true that the topic has come up to revive the awards ceremony," said SBS's variety director, Lee Chang Jae. "It hasn't been confirmed yet, and we will make the final decision within the week."
The 'SBS Gayo Daejun' included an awards ceremony until 2006, and was the last out of the three major stations to get rid of it amid rumors of less-than-legitimate results. However, now, if rumors hold true, this year's concert will include some shiny trophies once again!
If SBS's new spin on the year-end concert succeeds, other stations may follow suit. "We haven't heard anything, but if SBS revives the awards ceremony, others may do the same. It could also introduce a variable into the ratings. It is definitely something to be watched," said an industry worker.
