It was revealed earlier today that Core Contents Media (CCM) was suing singer Lee Seung Chul for illegal use and distribution of his OSTs without the consent of CCM. The singer fired back by suing CCM for defamation. Finally, music distributor CJ E&M, which is the parent company of CCM, released their official position on this complicated situation.
A rep from CJ E&M told Star News on January 15, "It is true that there were errors in calculation . . . We discovered this back in October and since then, we have expressed our intentions of settling with CCM . . . The problem of calculation is one that CJ E&M needs to take responsibility for and solve; we are going to settle with CCM for precisely 90 million won (~ $85,000 USD) . . . We wish CCM and Lee Seung Chul would refrain from an unnecessary emotional dispute."
Lastly, the rep said, "Because we discussed everything through the law, the issue will probably wrap up nicely if we settled with CCM."
