Actress Park Shin Hye recently returned from a volunteer trip in Ghana as an honorary ambassador for the non-profit organization, 'KFHI' (Korea Food for the Hungry International). KFHI's 'STOP HUNGER' campaign was held in Ghana from September 24th to October 2nd to help promote '2011 World Food Day', which will take place on October 16th. Working with other KFHI volunteers, Park Shin Hye spent time with children suffering from poverty and illness. She give out food provision kits and mosquito nets, and also took children suffering from malaria to the hospital. While in Ghana, the actress developed a special relationship with a young girl named Abana who has no parents and lives with her grandmother. Park Shin Hye acted as Abana's mother for the day by giving her a bath, going to the market with her, cooking her food, and helping to provide Abana's kindergarten with meals. It's said that Park Shin Hye shed tears after spending time with Abana, who always had a bright smile on her face despite being physically slight because of malnourishment. The actress commented, "Becoming a child's mother made me very happy, but it also broke my heart. These children gain so much strength from even a little interest and love. Our help will symbolize life and hope for these children. I hope our warm interest and love will be able to help them." This 'STOP HUNGER' campaign trip will be aired as a special documentary through MBC on October 15th. Source + Photo: JKN, Seoul NTN
