After being swept up in controversy regarding 'false reviews', singer Baek Ji Young has decided to step down from her operating position at her online shopping mall, 'I Am Yuri'.
During an interview with a media outlet that took place on July 22nd, the artist opened up saying, "It upsets me to think that 'I am Yuri' is being punished excessively because of me."
She continued, "I had no idea about the false reviews. It has been a while since I've personally been involved with the actual management. However, I do believe I should take responsibility as it is a website that was publicized under my name. I am leaving the shopping mall, however, I will be giving back to others and do other good things."
Netizens who read her statement replied, "I understand where she's coming from but she is still in the wrong," and "It's unfortunate, but I think it'd be better for her to leave."
Earlier this month, Baek Ji Young's shopping mall 'I Am Yuri' was fined 10,000,000 KRW ($8,715 USD) by the Fair Trade Commission for leaving false reviews on products on the site. The business belonged to both herself and COOL member Yuri.
