'Entertainment Prince' Lee Seung Gi will be leaving the Entertainment world. The coming episode of SBS 'Strong Heart' on the 3rd will be Lee Seung Gi's last episode.
A lot of the viewers don't want to see him go. The truth is, Lee Seung Gi was able to earn his title as "national brother" from entertainment shows such as '1 Night 2 Days' and 'Strong Heart'. No matter how much he sang his hit songs, there were times when he couldn't bypass the idol groups. However, his devotion to entertainment shows and dramas lead people to like him and become his fans.
Now that Lee Seung Gi will no longer be on entertainment shows, there's a lot of interest on whether there will be a new face who can replace him. In order to replace him, the new face has to not only be young and passionate, but also needs to be able to gain the likes of the viewers all across the board of gender and age and have the entertainment sense. Of course, good looks are a must. Since Lee Seung Gi had all of these charms, it will be hard to find the second Lee Seung Gi who will encompass all of them as well.
One entertainment PD stated, "It looks like it's going to be hard to find someone to replace Lee Seung Gi. Stars who actively perform in singing, acting, and entertainment shows are rare. To gain Lee Seung Gi's fame and level, they must be very diligent. Even in idols, it's hard to find ones who act and take part in entertainment shows continuously. They often have schedule conflicts or don't like to risk their image."
Another entertainment associate added, "It's hard to find a star who has overall positive image like that of Lee Seung Gi. For example, no matter how famous Kim Soo Hyun gets, it's hard to determine if he could ever be a fixed cast member on an entertainment show. Also, Joo Won who is in the new '1 Night 2 Days' is being talked about as the second Lee Seung Gi, but that must be proven first. They must perform in variety of fields as well as developing a good image on entertainment shows. This needs some time."
So all in all, the overall attitude seems to be that it will be impossible to replace Lee Seung Gi for now. It looks like it's going to take some time before we see someone worthy of the title as the second Lee Seung Gi.
