Male idol group 2PM successfully wrapped up their 'Hands Up Tour'.
According to CJ E&M, the beastly boys embarked on their '2PM HANDS UP ASIA TOUR 2011-2012' last September and recently held their final tour performance in Hong Kong back on March 10th.
The boys sold out a show for 10,000 in Taiwan, 7,000 in Jakarta, 8,000 in Singapore, 9,000 in Bangkok, and 9,000 in Hong Kong .
CJ E&M's global concert brand M-Live who coordinated this particular tour remarked, "Although the K-POP and Hallyu market is based in Asia, there are not many artists who can sell out 10 performances in 8 countries back to back in a period of six months."
"The economic impact from this Asia Tour is expected to be around $53 million. That's including tickets, album sales, sponsor business marketing, local promotions, and more. The stabilization of Hallyu has contributed to the success, and the direct effects are definitely noteworthy," they continued.
In Indonesia, 7,000 tickets sold out within an hour of going on sale, and representative from the local area remarked, "There was already a K-POP craze in the area, but before and after 2PM's concert, there hs been a higher interest in all things related to K-POP, and sales for albums and magazines are more favorable."
Furthermore, 2PM member Nichkhun's home country Thailand is currently one of the biggest markets for K-POP following Japan, and a local representative from the area added, "2PM is definitely a big hit in Thailand and is extremely popular. 2PM is certainly doing their part to effectively promote K-POP."
Getting into closer contact with the fans by handing out signed posters, selecting songs from the local area, and holding fan meets is reportedly an important part of the marketing strategy.
M-Live remarked, "Other than a high-class performance, having other 'fan services' such as various promotions ready to meet the expectations of the audience is a vital part of the plan to globalize K-POP."
JYP Entertainment stated, "Thanks to the fans, we have been able to reap tremendous success. We are glad that we have done our small part to help K-POP artists advance into other parts of Asia. Thank you to all the international fans who have waited for 2PM during their Asia Tour, and we will repay you with international activities."
