MBC's 'The Moon that Embraces the Sun' has drawn its highest viewership rating yet thanks to actress Han Ga In's torture scene.
In this episode, Han Ga In's character Wol is wrongly accused of conspiracy against the throne after King Hwon faints in bed with the Queen. Embarrassed, the Queen and her consorts accuse Wol of casting a spell on him out of jealousy, and she is sentenced to an unjust beating.
Though it was extremely cold, the actress refused to have a substitute fill in for her. She was determined to film this tough scene properly to the point of personal fatigue.
The torture scene was particularly interesting to viewers not just for its critical placement in the storyline, but also because of Han Ga In herself -- the actress is known for her delicate features, which contrast starkly with the gruesome treatment. As such, many were interested to see how Han Ga In would pull off such a difficult scene.
Episode 13, which aired on February 15th, gathered a whopping 38.4% in ratings.
