It has been revealed that the eight ladies of Leader'S, the girl group that received attention after releasing their '2018 Pyungchang Olympics' congratulatory song, are actually one unit of a larger 24-member girl group. Their agency TGN Entertainment stated, "TGN is the acronym for TaGoNa (meaning 'gifted at birth' in Korean), and we have embarked on a project to debut separate units LeadersT, LeadersG, and LeadersN, in that order. The group currently promoting their track "Kiss Me" are members of the LeadersT unit." They continued, "We have selected these girls through a survival competition, and the members of the units may interchange, depending on the situation. LeadersG and LeadersT are working hard to make their official debut." The idea for the 24-member Leader'S was taken from the mega popular Japanese girl group, AKB48, and TGN Entertainment decided to grow the girl group, 8 members at a time. But why 8? The number 8 is considered to be a lucky number in the Chinese culture, and 'pal', the Korean word for 'eight', sounds similar to the first synonym of 'Pachai' which in Chinese means, 'to make money'. Their idea is that the girls of Leader'S will dominate the largest (Chinese) market in the world. Different from most idol girl groups, Leader'S will not be pushing neither a 'sexy' nor 'adorable' concept, rather, they're attempting to create a friendly, approachable image for themselves. Their agency stated, "We want the girls to feel like friends to the fans, rather than celebrities. We want them to seem more approachable than other idol groups." And rather than each member having a fixed 'style', the members will be flexible to adapt and change, depending on what the fans desire. TGN Entertainment understands that above all, vocal talent is more important than anything else and they're rigorously training each member. All 24 girls are practicing dance and singing for around 12 hours a day. LeadersT include members leader Dahae (25), Sulji (22), Serin (20), Yeonshil (20), Pengie (19) Chae Yool (18), Yesol (17), Kyung Sook (17), etc. Their ages all vary between 17-25. The ladies of LeadersT are actively promoting their single "Kiss Me" on various music programs such as Mnet's M! Countdown. Source & Image : SportsSeoul via Nate
