"'Hongdae Goddess,' 'Simon D's girlfriend'... I don't like those nicknames. I want to become a national singer through my own name." Having just debuted under her own name for the very first time, the public only seems to know Lady Jane by those two nicknames more than anything else. Already a famous figure in the indie scene, she claims that such nicknames bothers her, "I never thought about hiding our relationship since both of us never dreamed of becoming who we are today. But that doesn't mean I don't like my name being introduced right alongside his. He's a great guy, you know, and I'm sure he'd feel the same. Where else can he get such a lovely girlfriend like me? (laughter)" The singer first entered Hongdae's indie scene in 2006 as a vocalist for electronic band Humming Urban Stereo. In 2009, she joined modern rock band Tiramisu and then later decided to make a solo debut. "I was once cast on the streets and almost had the chance to become an idol. I thought that it wasn't the right path for me because I wanted to make music with character, not stuff people force me to do. It's one of the reasons why I chose Hongdae over it," the singer explained. Wrapping up, Lady Jane reflects on Hongdae's impact on her musical growth, "Hongdae is very closed off. You produce, you perform... The system just repeats itself. There are less fans to interact with, less reactions.. It's just easy to fall into habitual behavior. But just because I'm leaving it doesn't mean I'm forgetting it. Hongdae represents 'youth.' It's hot and full of passion. These are exactly the type of feelings I want to express."
