We've all been waiting for this day! Figure skater, Kim Yuna (19) has finally set foot on the ice rink at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, and is ranked no.1 in the ladies short program! With the weight of the entire nation on her shoulders to win a gold medal, you can imagine the huge amount of stress that Kim Yuna must be feeling. Yuna was the 23rd skater to perform, and right before her, was Japanese figure skater Asada Mao, who has been overshadowed by Yuna and is also her fiercest rival. Asada Mao lived a short moment of glory, as she was ranked no.1 for a few minutes, with her impressive score of 73.78. But Kim Yuna kept her composure with a steady performance, which got her 78.50 points (44.70 technical score, 33.80 component score) and another new world record. The medal event will be in 2 days with the free skate event.
